Nationwide counselling service could fit in a large elevator
Got a call from Whats Up today. They wanted some money so that they can run their counselling service for kids who ring up about child abuse, questions on sexual orientation and the like. The service is sponsored by Telecom and the Yellow Pages.
I rung them up to see how long that it would take to answer their phone. I waited 15 minutes as all their “trained counsellors were busy”, the ansaphone said in a hip cool voice.
All three of them.
Nationwide.

The Sun - Celebrity’s faces
The Sun - Celebrity faces
It’s a bit of a double edged sword commenting in The Sun (even apart from the dreadful misquotes). It could be the end of a glittering career. However never afraid to tell it like it is and speak her mind London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston did it anyway. You’re a celebrity and it’s your own fault if you are looking haggard you’ve been obcessively dieting for over 20 years! (more or less)
Totally fearless treading where other nutritionists fear to tread. Read More in The Sun Online
“I’m uncomfortable being referred to as a celebrity nutritionist” said Yvonne Bishop-Weston. “I think it detracts from the day to day business of getting people fit and well. I’d much rather be well known for what I can do rather than who I know”
She is probably right to be wary. One of the problems of being labelled a ‘celebrity nutritionist’ is the a risk of getting dumped in the quack-box with Gillian Mckieth and Patrick Holford and having ‘Dr’ Ben ‘I have a huge chip on my shoulder’ Goldacre trying to piggyback your career.
McDonalds Faces Fine in New New York Law
At Fast-Food Outlets: Premature Sticker Shock for the Weight Conscious - New York Times

World’s eyes are on McDonalds to see if they comply with new laws put in place by New York that enforces restaurants to display calorie information.
The New York State Restaurant Association, went to court last week to try to block the changes. It argued that the rule was an infringement of the First Amendment, which prevents government messages being forced onto businesses.
However, the judge found that the new rules served the public interest by providing customers with accurate nutritional information.
The Department of Health stated that a district court judge has set Friday, April 25th as the new date for the law to go into effect.
The date the grace period ends has also been pushed to June 6.
If McDonalds don’t post calorie information by then there could be trouble.
Yvonne Bishop-Weston, Foods for Life nutritionist London says “Calories are just the tip of the fast food nutritional iceberg but it’s a good start. How can people make informed responsible decisions on their health if the information is kept from them? When we shop for groceries the information on basic nutrients is all there but when we eat out we are often choosing in the dark”

Thank you!
Breaking News: Reade Seligmann to attend Brown University.
We are sorry that Duke is losing such a fine young man and the embodiment of all that is good about Duke students. However, we understand completely and want only the best for him. We know that other excellent schools reached out to Reade even while he was under indictment. It is a disgrace that his own school, Duke University, did nothing to try and keep him even after he was exonerated.
Thank you
Congratulations to the Duke Men’s and Women’s lacrosse teams for outstanding seasons! It was not a Hollywood ending, but we hope with time you can look back and appreciate all you accomplished this season. It was something amazing.
We love you and have always been proud of the success you achieved as people in the things that matter most: confronting the overwhelming challenges presented to you by life itself. The success you achieved on the field was equally remarkable and just icing on the cake, very sweet icing indeed.
Thank you for a thrilling ride this season!
